The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba (“LGCA”) is issuing this request for proposals (“RFP”) as part of its ongoing research program. The purpose of the RFP is to solicit proposals from qualified research organizations (“candidates”) to administer a representative survey of adult Manitobans who have placed bets on sports in the past 12 months and to conduct a qualitative literature review of existing social responsibility initiatives related to sports betting (“project”).
The 10- to 15-minute survey will gather information on the prevalence of sports betting in Manitoba, as well as the betting behaviours, beliefs and lower-risk gambling strategies employed by Manitobans who have placed bets on sports within the past 12 months. The 8- to 10- page literature review will examine existing social responsibility initiatives and other forms of social marketing targeted towards lower-risk sports betting in Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
The resulting data from the survey and literature review will be used to inform the LGCA’s public education initiatives. Because of the complex and theoretical nature of the research topics, the successful candidate (“consultant”) will work closely with the LGCA to ensure the highest possible caliber of research. The consultant must complete the project by March 25, 2024.
