Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) is proceeding to construction with a 30 lot subdivision, gravity sewer collection system upgrades and a section of WM renewal.
Moose Cree First Nation is located on Moose Factory Island on the Moose River, approximately 20 km south of the southern tip of James Bay. The community is 4 km east of the Town of Moosonee, which is on the mainland. Moosonee is accessible year-round via rail or airplane. Moose Factory Island is accessible from Moosonee, Ontario by barge or boat during the summer months, ice road during winter months and helicopter during shoulder seasons. The barge typically runs from mid-May to Mid-October. Moose Factory Island is also periodically connected to Otter Rapids, Ontario via the Wetum Winter Road. The road is restricted to passenger vehicles only and is not always constructed.
The general scope of work consists of:
- Underground piping works including the following approximate quantities:
- WTP Site Servicing
- 20 m of 250 mm watermain piping replacement
- 145 m of 300 mm watermain piping replacement
- Water service line connections to 7 buildings
- 83 m of 200 mm gravity sewer upgrades
- 505 m of 250 mm gravity sewer upgrades
- 605 m of granular road reconstruction
- Watermain Renewal Works
- 600 m of 250 mm watermain piping
- Water service line connections to 28 buildings
- New 30-lot Subdivision
- 80 m of 50 mm watermain piping
- 75 m of 150 mm watermain piping
- 450 m of 200 mm watermain piping
- 140 m of 200 mm gravity sewer and manholes
- 420 m of 250 mm gravity sewer and manholes
- Water and sewer services to 30 lots
- 500 m of road construction with granular B-base and A-base
- Lot grading
- 9,900 cubic metres of borrow pit imported fill
- Dewatering efforts will be required for pipe installation in all areas of work.
