6967-2022/23 - MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS FOR LANDA DECONTAMINATION UNITS

Manitoba Natural Resources and Northern Development’s Watercraft Inspection
Program has been operating for 21 years. The purpose of this program is to inspect
watercraft and water related equipment for Zebra Mussels and other Aquatic Invasive
Species (AIS). The objectives of this program are to limit the spread of AIS within the
province and prevent the introduction of AIS into the province. Over the last several
years, the province has acquired several decontamination units to support this effort.
These decontamination units operate using hot water and high pressure to kill and
remove AIS from watercraft and water related equipment. The province operates
several LANDA ECOS 7000 decontamination units. The LANDA ECOS 7000 is a
trailered, mobile wash and reclamation system that recovers, filters, and recycles the
dirty water from the pressure washer. The trailer contains a burner to heat the water, a
generator to fuel the pressure washer, and a vacuum and reclaim pump to collect water
from the mat and recycle it back into the tanks. The province also operates a Hotsy
pressure washer, which contains a burner and generator but does not have a
reclamation system.
