6198-2018/19 - Cultured and Wild Brood Stock Fish Disease Testing

Manitoba Sustainable Development’s Fisheries Science and Fish Culture program  produces 20 - 80M Walleye fry and close to 0.5M Salmonids (of various life-stages) annually to support recreational, Indigenous and commercial fisheries. To maintain and protect the health status of Manitoba’s ecosystems into which cultured fishes are stocked, Manitoba has undertaken fish disease testing prior to stocking of fish.  It is also necessary to understand the disease profile of wild stocks as it pertains both to the movement of fish for stock enhancement activities as well as detection of diseases of significant concern which could have implications to recreational and commercial fisheries.
 
Manitoba is seeking bids from qualified facilities to perform a suite of fish disease tests at several times through the annual production cycle and in conjunction with surveillance testing (depending on time and resources).  The Agreement is anticipated to commence on January 25, 2019 and shall continue until December 31, 2021.
