7496-2024/25 - CLEAN AND MAINTAIN BACKCOUNTRY SITES ALONG THE WINNIPEG RIVER

Environment and Climate Change requires cleaning and maintenance of the backcountry sites located along the Winnipeg River system from Pointe du Bois to the Ontario border within the Whiteshell Provincial Park (See Appendix A). This would include the mowing of the grassed areas, clean-up of garbage, removal of downed trees, cleaning of fire pits and pit privies and general upkeep of the sites, on an as required basis. A maximum number of dates are provided as guideline to ensure sites are kept in a moderate state prior to weekend use (see Appendix B). The location of the work shall be the 15 backcountry sites and the trapper’s cabin located along the Winnipeg River system from Pointe du Bois to the Ontario border within the Whiteshell Provincial Park (see Appendix A). These dates may vary dependant on weather or other circumstances, with prior approval from Manitoba. Should any safety concerns arise, Manitoba should be immediately notified.
