NSY Fender Installation
 
 
Marine Atlantic Inc. (MAI) invites offers from qualified Vendors for the NSY Gulfspan Dock, Fender Installation.
 
The project is located at the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal site in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, specifically, the Gulfspan Dock.
 
The Work generally includes, but it is not necessarily limited to:
 
General:

• Concrete modifications as required for the installation of the new fender systems.
• Concrete repairs as required to address existing dock deterioration.
• Removal of existing ladder systems located along the length of the dock.
• Supply and installation of new ladder systems located along the length of the dock, including required holdfasts.
• Installing and removing temporary fenders as directed in the event of an emergency where the Gulfspan Dock must be put back into service.
• Any and all removals, modifications and replacement of existing dock systems\structures necessary to complete the work of this contract, including electrical and water services.
• Removal of any face of dock elements including but not limited to u-bolts, anchors, etc. that will interfere with the installation or operation of the new fender system. 
  Guide/Warping Fenders:
• Removal of all existing guide and warping fender system, including frontal panels, rubber     elements, chains, shackles, mounting brackets and other accessories. Systems to be salvaged are to be directly loaded onto a flatbed (provided by the contractor) while other systems are to be disposed of off-site as indicated.
• Removal of existing grout and installation of new grout on the vertical face of the dock as required for the installation of the fender systems.
• Installation of owner supplied new guide and warping fender systems, including frontal panels, rubber elements, chains, shackles, mounting brackets and other accessories.
• Hammer drilling and core drilling as indicated for installation of required fender anchorages.
• Removal and relocation of one (1) existing stern fender system, with supply of new anchors and miscellaneous mounting brackets as indicated. 
  Bulbous Bow Fender:
• Removal of existing bulbous bow fender systems, including rubber elements, structural steel framing and all associated accessories to allow for installation of new fender system.
• Installation of Owner supplied frontal panel, including wear pads, chains, shackles, mounting brackets and all other associated accessories.
• Supply and installation of tremie concrete and all associated reinforcing and hardware as indicated.
• Supply and installation of fender spool pieces and all associated hardware as indicated.
• Supply and installation of structural steel vertical panel supports, bearing assemblies and all associated hardware as indicated.
• Installation of owner supplied rubber elements as indicated. 
  Marine Atlantic reserves the right to accept tenders in whole or in part.  The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
   
  A site visit will be held on July 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM Atlantic time at the site in North Sydney, NS.
   
  The closing for receipt of tenders will be 1400 hours Atlantic Time, August 16, 2017.
   
  Proposals must be submitted by electronic means using the MERX EBS.
   
  This will be the only method of response accepted for consideration. Proposals will not be considered if submitted by fax, email or other open forms of communication.  Proposals must be received by the closing date and hour.  Late Proposals will not be considered.
