FBCL bridges are in heavy demand 24 hours per day, 365 days per year from local, regional and international members of the travelling public and commercial carriers. They provide critical arteries for international trade and deliver important economic benefits to their communities and to Canada. Given their function, FBCL bridges and other assets are located in exposed environments and, as such, are subject to the effects of severe weather and evolving climates. FBCL is seeking to retain an experienced, specialised professional services provider to assess the corporation’s vulnerabilities and risk areas resulting from these environmental factors and a changing climate.
A successful assessment will provide short and medium term weather and climate change projections for each of FBCL bridge locations as well as identify risks to bridges, roadways, buildings and other assets and infrastructure. Vulnerability reviews will include risk severity and probability assessments as well as recommended risk mitigation actions with estimated remediation costs as they relate to the various assets of FBCL’s crossings. This information will allow FBCL to clearly understand the effects these factors have on its future operations and support the corporation’s data-driven business planning functions.
