The scope of the Prime Consultant’s services is identified in Appendix C which will form Schedule A of OAA 600 Contract of Architect’s Services: Architect - To design and deliver an Indigenous space to support the Indigenous population's cultural practices, beliefs, and values. This space will include outdoor components and will be housed within an existing courtyard at the OCI. - It is assumed that this space will include some or all of the following components (to be confirmed through the consultation and engagement process: o Courtyard garden o Sweat Lodge o Smudging Building o Teepee o Sitting area. o Round House o Ceremonial Fire Asset - In addition to the components above, any indoor spaces generated will a new stand alone Heating/Cooling unit, ventilation, electrical and security and appropriate fire protection. - Critical to the success of this project is the development and implementation of an engagement and consultation strategy to inform the design and construction of the proposed project. - Indigenous community involvement is required. - The Prime Consultant will be responsible for ensuring that an engagement and consultation strategy is developed and implemented to, at a minimum, inform the design strategy (e.g. design components, materials to be used, etc.) and vet the design at key stages of development. These services must be provided by the Indigenous Engagement Advisor, who may be internal to the Prime Consultant team or a subconsultant. The Indigenous Engagement Advisor must have proven experience with Indigenous projects and engagement commensurate with this project type and scale.
