PROJECT OVERVIEW The City is seeking to retain a Consultant to provide professional engineering services for the Waste Management Operational Business Planning project. The Consultant’s team will be retained to provide technical and professional services for developing a new Waste Management Operational Business Plan for the Project. The City of Iqaluit is currently undertaking a major capital project which will consider the construction of a new landfill and waste transfer station. The new landfill and waste transfer station will replace the existing system currently in place at the West 40 landfill. As part of planning initiatives related to operational readiness, the City is looking to investigate strategies for the operation and maintenance of the new landfill and waste transfer station, from a business perspective. The City invites individual firms or consortiums of firms to submit Proposals for the above-referenced Project in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Request for Proposal document.
Project Scope The City of Iqaluit is currently undertaking a major capital project, which will consider the construction of a new landfill and waste transfer station. The new landfill and waste transfer station will replace the existing system currently in place at the West 40 landfill. As part of planning initiatives related to operational readiness, the City is looking to investigate strategies for the operation and maintenance of the new landfill and waste transfer station, from a business perspective. As such, the City will be looking to undertake a study which will consider the analysis – from a business and financial perspective – regarding the long-term operation of the new system. This will include City operation and maintenance of the system, and third-party operation and maintenance of the system. As part of planning initiatives related to operational readiness, the City is looking to investigate strategies for the operation and maintenance of the new landfill and waste transfer station, from a business perspective. The City is seeking to conduct a study that: ➢ Investigates various business models for the operation and maintenance of the new landfill and waste transfer station. The Consultant will be required to retain an engineer licensed in Nunavut to develop a business model plan that addresses the objectives listed above.
