Description

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking proposals for certain satellite television uplink services and associated space segment for the purpose of distributing the specialty services (RDI, ARTV, CBC News World, Documentary and Voice Print) to BDUs across Canada, from St-John’s Newfoundland to Vancouver, and as far north as Yellowknife, Whitehorse and Iqaluit.

CBC/Radio-Canada is currently using Shaw Broadcast satellite services for distribution of TV specialty services to hundreds of BDUs or cable operators across Canada. This mode of connectivity is a supplement to the direct connection used by many major BDUs. By this direct connection, they get access to all CBC/Radio-Canada content, TV and Radio, directly in our Montreal or Toronto Production centers.

CBC/Radio-Canada specialty services are currently transported by Shaw over Telesat’s satellite Anik F1R (107.3° WL) or G1 (collocated with F1R at 107.3) and are in Ku band.
