The Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI), in its capacity of Recipient for the 2020 – 2023 Atlantic Canada Agreement on Tourism (ACAT) Collaborative Project, is seeking proposals from qualified market research suppliers to conduct travel intentions research.
Qualified companies with proven expertise in research design methodologies, telephone and/or online survey development and design, online surveying, data collection, data management and data tabulation to design, deliver and implement an online and/or telephone survey.
The qualified company must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the tourism industry in Atlantic Canada and have significant experience working with government or industry on tourism-related research.
The objectives of the study are:
- Gather research for ACAT decision making and share learnings with the tourism industry in Atlantic Canada;
- Gain knowledge of travel intentions and motivators;
- Investigate the appeal of various tourism experiences and what products/experiences will motivate travel;
- Explore travellers’ expectations of a vacation experience in each of the Atlantic Canada provinces;
- Understand level of knowledge of Atlantic Canada as a vacation destination;
- Understanding of travel patterns in Atlantic Canada, including single or multiple provinces per trip, trip length, frequency of travel, and potential changes to patterns;
- Understand planning and booking preferences, including booking/planning timeframes;
- Understand the travel motivators and barriers for visitors to the Atlantic Canada provinces and whether there are new or stronger barriers to visitation;
- Understand how perceptions of the Atlantic Canada provinces have changed over the course of the pandemic;
- Explore the appeal of the Atlantic Canadian provinces as a vacation destination relative to other domestic and international destinations; and
- Investigate domestic long-haul markets (Alberta and British Columbia) as potential emerging markets for ACAT.
