The Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI), in partnership with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, is interested in learning about the attitudes and intentions of prospective travellers to and within Atlantic Canada, to help the industry prepare for the 2020 tourism season, as well as the 2021 season. The study would explore how COVID-19 is affecting traveller behaviour, preferences and intentions, and how that is changing over time. The research findings would help tourism organizations and operators make decisions and plan for visitation during this uncertain time and help prioritize investments for tourism product development. The research would inform planning for the 2020 late summer/fall season and the 2021 tourism season.
Travelers from within the region and from key domestic markets outside Atlantic Canada would be targeted in a survey. Intentions for both day trip travel and overnight visitation will be explored. To monitor changes in attitudes as COVID-19 domestic travel restrictions ease and international borders re-open for non-essential travel, the survey will be conducted in multiple waves.
TIAPEI is seeking proposals from qualified full service market research suppliers to conduct travel intentions research in Atlantic Canada.
Qualified companies with proven expertise in research design methodologies, telephone and/or web survey development and design, online surveying, data collection, data management and data tabulation to work with the proponent to design, deliver and implement a series of online and/or telephone surveys.
The qualified company must demonstrate a strong knowledge of the tourism industry in Atlantic Canada, and have significant experience working with government or industry on tourism-related research.
