Description

The Alternative Resource Energy Authority (AREA) is overseeing the construction of a solar
garden (solar PV facility) in each of the Towns of Antigonish, Berwick and Mahone Bay.
Each solar garden will be connected to an existing distribution circuit within each of the
Towns’ distribution network. The Towns of Antigonish, Berwick and Mahone Bay each
own and operate their own electric utility. The Town of Antigonish distribution network
presently operates at 12.47kV, however, future plans are to convert the network to
24.94kV. The Town of Berwick distribution network presently operates at 12.47kV and
the Town of Mahone Bay distribution network operates at 4.16kV.
