Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) represents and supports approximately 150 member organizations across the province with the aim of bringing the best possible substance use, addictions, and mental health care to those who need it. Dozens of AMHO members are supportive housing providers, and support thousands of clients across the province, with a combination of housing assistance and wrap-around support services (i.e., counselling, addictions support, peer support, life skills training, assistance with the activities of daily living, etc.)
AMHO is seeking a consultant to a) enumerate the demand for mental health and addictions supportive housing and b) identify the costs of creating new supportive housing spaces through different approaches (e.g. rent supplements, redevelopment and new builds).
Data that could demonstrate demand for supportive housing such as wait lists and wait times; as well as costs of service delivery of different levels of supportive housing does not exist centrally or in a consistent manner across regions, due to the striation of MHA supportive housing funding and administration across all three levels of government, and between many ministries at the provincial level.
